MaKEuP iN tuNe wItH tHe SEaSon

Did you know that you really should change your make-up with the seasons? It really does reflect on your appearance. Here’s a quick guide on how to do your make-up all year round.

    Spring
You aren’t still wearing the same old makeup colors that you wore last winter are you? Spring is coming and there are some great new colors to check out.
For eye shadow, bright bold colors are IN. There are  great pinks, deep purples and awesome blues, not to mention oranges, greens etc. to check out as well.  Play up your eyes with these new shades.

There are great new mascaras that make eyelashes long and thicker.   The look of false lashes can be obtained, creating that spiky look that is soooooooooooo popular.   One end fortifies and lengthens the lashes and the other end coats the lashes with lush color.   And when they say that is makes your lashes longer… it definitely works that way for me.

I challenge you to test out DivaGlam’s foundations they are definitely worth sharing  .They have mineral pressed and loose powder foundations, jojoba liquid foundation as well as HD foundations that give you that airbrushed finish.  Specializing in hard to find colors, custom blending different from what is on the market at the moment.   And the best part, it offers flawless coverage, but to anyone else, it’s just you.

To blush for this season try a mixture of pink and peach, for lighter complexions, peach and bronze for medium skintones, and bronzer with golden tones for darker skintones.   Two colors warm up  complexions perfectly.  Try mixing the shades that you have and see how it works for you.

    Summer
Full face make-up is not really necessary any more (no matter what your age).  And in the summer who wants full make-up on their face?   Use a tinted moisturizer rather than a regular foundation.  Also foundation applied to you t-zone is acceptable and add a sheer powder over entire face after will do very nicely.  It will even out your skin tone and is so much lighter.

As far as fragrance goes, keep your summer fragrance light and fresh. A cologne or toilet water spray with some of the new aromatherapy scents is perfect. You can always go back to your regular or a heavier perfume at first frost. Overall, just think light, airy, sunny, and you can’t go wrong with less make-up in the summer.

Remember, “LESS IS MORE”, especially as you get older.  Take what you see in magazines and on tv and make it YOUR own, those LOOKS are only guidelines for you to use.  If you remember this then you will always be a FASHION DIVA!!!

    b’HUE-tifullly yours,

    MeChelle

    It’s All In The ToOls

    Makeup artists brush kit.

Applying makeup with brushes is a great way to get a precise look. One of the major mistakes women make in applying makeup is simply relying on the applicators given in eyeshadow and blush packages. Makeup from drug stores is notorious for coming with applicators that do not apply makeup well. Instead of relying on small foam applicators, a woman should invest in a set of makeup brushes. Makeup brushes allow a woman to feel like an artist when she applies makeup. Makeup brushes can also be found at any department store or drug store. You should look for deals on makeup sets from department stores that come with makeup brushes.

Stigma brushes are a awesome resource for brushes and you can find a link at our site http://www.divaglamcosmetics.co.uk.  They offer great choices at reasonable prices.  So be the DIVA Artist that you are and don’t forget to invest in good quality brushes and you will get quality results.

    Happy brushing,

    Winter-Licious Foundation

    Makeup Foundation for Winter

Throughout the year, our makeup needs change just as our wardrobe needs change. Winter is a notoriously hard time of year for the face, which is often the only part of our bodies that are exposed to the elements. Foundation should be considered to be your second skin, only better, so using the right tools can help keep your face looking fresh and natural through the coldest winter months.

During winter, the skin tone can be quite different than it was during the summer months. In order to keep your face looking natural, always choose a foundation that closely matches your skin tone throughout the year. In winter, our skin tone tends to be at its palest, so make sure to test a foundation before you buy it. Try a small amount on your skin and let it set for a couple of minutes, and look at the results in the best light available.

Testing is important even if you feel you’ve got a perfect match in the bottle because the natural acid in our skin can change the tint of the foundation. If you tend to experience dryer skin during the winter months, try out a foundation that advertises hydrating properties.

Moisturizer is an essential part of your makeup routine during the winter months. Keeping your skin hydrated will prevent your skin from drying or flaking. Ideally, your moisturizer or foundation should include sunscreen, especially during winter, when the sun can be quite harsh. After your moisturizer is set, apply concealer as you need it. The concealer should also match your skin tone, and it can help hide the appearance of dark circles under the eyes or red blemishes.

Finally, apply the foundation lightly with your fingertips. The goal is to use a small amount or all over coverage, which helps keep the face looking fresh and healthy. Remember, you can always add more in areas where you need it.

At DivaGlam Cosmetics we offer Mineral and Liquid Foundation loaded with moisturizers and vitamins to help protect and put back into the skin what nature has taken away.  It is also during this time of year when a switch from powder to liquid may be recommended.  Custome blended foundation is also a route you may consider taking as well, we make the foundation to match your skintone exactly.  That means for you that it is YOUR FOUNDATION no one else will have the color since it is created especially for you and you alone.

Please stop by the site and make an appointment for YOUR custom foundation, treat yourself to a very special Christmas present especially for YOU.

    Divaliciously yours,

    MeChelle

    Beauty is????????????

No matter what you wear or how much money you have to fix any flaws you think you have.  None of it is important if you do not get this one simple yet profound fact,  BEAUTY IS NOT OUTWARD, BEAUTY IS INWARD.

When I was young my grandmother use to tell me that “A good name is better to be chosen than all the money in the world”.  I really did not know what that meant until I got older and realized that of all the women that I admired and looked up to most of them were not rich in money but were very rich in what wisdom they had to impart into my life.

These women, my great aunts and grandmothers,

were very wise women who had gone through life and were strong women who held their families together through tough times and good times.  Who stayed with their husbands through the good and the bad, in sickness and in health.  These women sat me down and deposited into my life wisdom from life experiences that they had lived, not something they had read in a book or gotten from someone else, but real life.

It is because of these women, these BEAUTIFUL women that I am the woman that I am today.  I know that I would not be who I am if it had not been for these women departing themselves into me and the beauty that they had they shared with me.

I do that with my daughter, I followed their example to be what you are and say what you mean and stand for something or you will fall for anything and anyone.  Have a high standard for yourself that way you will not settle for a lower standard when it presents itself.

Remember, beauty is not bought in a store, or created under a plastic surgeons knife.  Beauty is cultivated from within.

Beauty is really a spiritual thing. If your spirit is beautiful then it does not matter what the outward appearance is like, because the REAL YOU is shining through. Unfortunately that is not taught to our young people today and even the older generation is trying sooooooooooo hard to remain outwardly beautiful. It is really sad because trying to keep the outside beautiful according to other peoples standards never works.
        Thanks for the comment.

    “HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY”

Hello everyone, Okay I came across this test and thought it was great, and as usual I love to share with my readers awesome information that I receive.  So the questionaire is just a tool to get you to thinking about what type of style you are or have a tendency to be.  Please take it and have fun.  Maybe you will discover something about yourself you did not know or you may think that you liked something but you find you really don’t. Enjoy,

Are you a sultry sex siren, a laid-back beach babe, or an elegant glamour girl? Take this quiz to find your beauty icon and the decade where your sense of style fits!

    ~ 1 of 8 ~

    1. You’re often told your most attractive feature is:

Your unique sense of style and ability to make any trend your own.

Your megawatt smile and boisterous laugh.

    Your sexy doe eyes.

Your effortless sense of style and grace.

Your clean-cut good looks and outgoing nature.
    ~ 2 of 8 ~

    2. You feel most confident when you are wearing:

A totally original (and sometimes out there) look you’ve pulled together from what’s in your closet.

    A stylish, curve-hugging ensemble.

An eye-catching swimsuit with beach-sexy hair.

Anything that exudes elegance — whether it’s a party dress or cigarette pants and a cardigan.

It depends — you can go from a sophisticated dress and heels one day to donning sneakers and jeans the next.

    3. Your favorite hair style is:

    Tousled, undone waves.

A sophisticated updo or short pixie cut.

One that changes monthly! You’ll try anything once, even streaks of bold color.

    Sculpted with lots of volume.

A head full of wild curls.

    ~ 4 of 8 ~

    4. When shopping for shoes, you find yourself gravitating toward:

Any shoe with an interesting feature: a rhinestone ornament, a peep toe, or some alligator fabric. It’s all in the details.

A sexy pair of thigh-high leather boots (or, hey, even combat boots!).

Heels — the higher the better! Comfort takes a backseat to style.

Timeless staples you can get lots of wear out of, like classic pumps or Converse sneakers.

Summery sandals or flats — you like looking pretty yet casual.

    5. Your jewelry box holds:

Your favorite watch, diamond studs, and a few delicate gold chains.

Big hoop earrings, studded leather bracelets, and necklaces of all colors and sizes. You love to accessorize!

Not much — just a few treasured pieces you’ve collected over the years

Anything jewel-encrusted — from cocktail rings to necklaces to bracelets.

Strand after strand of luxurious pearls.

Which of the following describes the contents of your makeup bag?

All the latest products from your favorite cosmetic counter — you never leave the house without a full face of superglam makeup!

Select items from the same luxe makeup and skin-care line you’ve used for years.

What makeup bag? You usually wear nothing but a bit of moisturizer with SPF.

Many, many colors and varieties of mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, and lip color. Any beauty trend that comes along, you’ll usually try it at least once.

Just the basics — concealer, mascara, and a touch of lip gloss.

    ~ 8 of 8 ~

    8. On a dream dinner date, you’re at a candlelit table for two. You’d hope to be with:

A chivalrous, handsome gentleman who oozes integrity.

An intense, athletic man with a mysterious personality and killer good looks.

A suave, sophisticated, and sexy European lover.

A laid-back family man who is crazy about you.

Your lovable longtime partner who still has your heart.

Okay so I took the test and the this is what my results were. Although I do agree with some of it I can say that I would never have put myself in the catagory with Madonna by no means. But it was fun anyway. Hope you enjoyed the thought provoking questions. Me

    You’re Madonna
    what??????????

1980s style chameleon who pushes the envelope

Unconventional and stylishly confident, you’re a beauty trendsetter whom others are captivated by. Though she’s just as relevant today, Madonna’s flashy rocker-chic look is synonymous with the 80s, and like her, you’re anything but boring. You love to experiment with makeup, hair, and fashion, and everyone knows it. Those around you see you as daring and seductive, but you back up your looks with magnetism, brains, and plenty of ambition. Others can’t wait to see what look you’ll pull off next — and you enjoy keeping them guessing.

Modern-day kindred spirits include Rihanna, Chloë Sevigny, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Pink.

It is a matter of beauty

    “Have a DIVA-LICIOUS dAY”

I came across this article about a particular cosmetics line and the information in it is very valuable for anyone to use.  Whether it is this line or DivaGlam, or any other line you want to use.
The thing about women is that we are very diversified when it comes to makeup and I know that, I myself have several items from several other lines that I enjoy and use as well as my own line.  So please don’t hesitate to try out different lines, what may work for this women and be good for her may not necessarily be good for you.  So do try other things, by all means if it works then use it.  Enjoy the article.
    DivaGlam Cosmetics

    CREATING INDIVIDUALIZED LOOKS

Avant-garde or glamorous evening looks are created using more contrast in color tones. Colors chosen can contrast dramatically with each other or with personal coloring. At night, try highlights with shimmer and deep contour shadows. For a bold or playful look try using colors from both warm and cool families. One idea combines the golden Sunstone and Tigereye shades on the eyes with blue-based Garnet applied to the lips.

    FACE COLOR

CONCEALER glides on with the flat side and tip of the concealer-face brush or sponge. Apply to discolored areas. Blend away edges.

FOUNDATION can be applied with the concealer-face brush in a stroking motion or use a sponge with a patting motion. Foundation should be applied from the center of the face to the perimeter. This provides coverage where needed and less chance of a “lollipop look” when the face and neck do not match.

BLUSH should look like “pinched cheeks” with color along the cheekbone. This is accomplished with the contour-blush brush in a motion lifting color from under the bone, onto the bone. Work the brush from the mid-ear toward the apple of the cheek. The apple of the cheek is the raised pad of flesh seen when you smile. This lifting style of blush application enhances bone structure by framing the cheekbones.

BRIGHTENER applied with the contour-blush brush adds a glow as desired on the forehead, chin or eyelids. The brightener can be brushed along cheekbones to blend blush application or to use instead of blusher altogether.

BRONZER can be used as a contour to define bone structure or create a sun-kissed glow to the entire face. Contour the cheekbone by applying bronzer with the contour-blush brush horizontally under the cheekbone from mid-ear to the area below the outer brow. Lift the brush upward to blend. Contour the jaw line with bronzer under the jaw-bone. Start behind the ear and work toward the chin. The nose is contoured downward along the sides from the inner brow to the tip of the nose. Be sure to squeeze the brush between the thumb and forefinger to keep the shading narrow along the sides of the nose. Dusting bronzer across nose, cheek-bones, chin and forehead perimeter and into the hairline creates a healthy glow. Note: Blending with foundation before applying can soften the effects of any shade.

    EYE COLOR

EYELID BASE fully covers eyelid from lash to brow. Base works to block any natural darkness and provide a surface over which any other shadow will glide. Use both sides of eye shadow brush to apply in windshield wiper” strokes. (Crystal, Opal, Tigereye, Concealer*)

EYE HIGHLIGHT accents brow arch, but does not cover entire browbone. Apply with pointed tip of eye shadow brush pressing up into brow arch and blending in a one-inch wide arc. Too much light color on the browbone creates a detracting “awning effect.” Your eyes should be the true stars of your makeup.

EYELID COLOR covers the area from the lash line to the socket and brow bone. A bright, light shadow (brightener*) can be applied to lid above the iris to accent a deep-set eye. A deep, taupe shade (Geode) can make a large, prominent lid appear less so. Apply with the flat side of the eye shadow brush in a pressing motion across the area holding the point toward the lashes and the handle upward.

EYE CONTOUR defines bone structure. Apply with the tapered side of the eye shadow brush. Stroke on shadow from the outer eye inward along the brow bone to an area above the inner iris. Blend upward and outward so there are no visible lines.

EYE LINER can be defined or smudged but should always connect to the base of the lashes. Special looks can be created by varying color and technique at top and bottom lash lines, but liner color should not be brighter than eye color. A smudged line is created with the tapered side or tip of eye shadow brush. A defined line is created with shadow on the tip of the eyeliner brush. This brush can be used damp or dry. The eyeliner brush is most effective when held like a pencil with the handle pointing downward. The brush can then press “hyphens” of color up into top and bottom lash lines. Work liner from the outer eye inward, so liner never stops abruptly, but subtly. The more wet the brush, the more defined the effect and intense the color.

EYEBROW COLOR should frame and lift the eye with a groomed arch shape. Work color into the brow hairs or onto the skin with the eyeliner brush in a stroking motion. The color mixture should match or harmonize with hair color tone. (Geode or mixture)

    DivaGlam Brush Set

Note: Remember to tap excess color off brushes first to avoid messy shadow and liner application. Never blow excess color off brushes. This may introduce bacteria into your brushes and shadows, causing eye infections. Any shadow that falls onto cheekbone is easily cleaned up using foundation on the concealer-foundation brush and gliding on under the eye and along the top of the cheekbone.

Brush Care: Shampoo Franché® quality brushes weekly in mild soap, rinsing thoroughly and squeezing out excess water Spray or dip into rubbing alcohol, squeeze to remove excess, and reshape. Dry flat on a towel. Alcohol speeds the drying process by displacing the water NEVER soak or immerse brushes in liquid, only moisten bristles to clean. “HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY”

I received this article from one of my fashion sources and I decided to share.  The article is about wearing Black fingernail polish, which believe it or not, I do happen to like the look.  I am not especially fond of the look in the article but I did see an article with another model and her nails where short and square and she had black nail polish on it look very nice.

Of course I realize that the color black on the nails is not everyones cup of tea, and when we think of black nails we automatically think Goth.  But it actually can look very classy and elegant if done correctly and worn at a length that is short.  So if you have never tried this look maybe your should, my moto is nothing ventured nothing gained. Enjoy the article.

The truth is that it is a trend that I like, and favors me most of the time, but you have to be careful. It is a look that can be super elegant, but if you’re not careful, it could be the opposite.

So in today’s tip I will tell you some secrets so that you don’t make any mistakes:

Wear your nails short and well filed.

If you have small hands, file your nails long to make the fingers appear finer.

If you are wearing dark nails, make sure that they are always impeccable; there is nothing less glamorous than wearing broken nails, especially if they are dark because it will be more noticeable.

Also dark matte colors, they favor less than the ones that are glossy, (you can apply a gloss layer on top).

Always apply nail protector, because dark colors can get your nails dirty.

If you are using dark nail polish, go changing the style with a lighter varnish, and let your nails rest a couple days per week

    Shedding in Winter

    Shedding YOUR brown spots
    Tuesday January 12, 2010

It is very important for us to keep our skin covered even during the winter months.  The more melanin in the skin the less sun damaged but there is sun damage non the less if we don’t take of ourselves with sunscreen For our fairer sisters it is really important to have sunscreen even in our makeup that we wear on our face.  DivaGlam Cosmetics Mineral Cosmetics has sunscreen in it and you want to make sure to use extra sunscreen for your skin type.

The following is an article that I came across and I felt that my readers would learn alot of information about sunspots and skin, the treatment and causes of brown spots.  Please feel free to comment and let us know what you think of the article and how helpful it was for you.  Enjoy

Shedding Your (Brown) Spots in Winter

When your arms and legs are pasty winter white, any brown spots or discolorations really stand out. Luckily, this is also the best time of year to do skin treatments to remove them — because you’re more likely to be wearing long sleeves and pants that can hide any crusts and scabs while you heal. Here are some of the ways I treat brown spots in my office:

Liquid nitrogen is a tried-and-true method of removing brown spots and harmless raised growths on the arms and legs. Using a canister that looks like a spray gun, I squirt the cold nitrogen through a nozzle. This freezes the growth or spot but leaves the normal skin around it untouched. It stings for a few seconds, then the treated area bubbles up into a red welt. Within a day or two the welt goes down and turns into a dark scab, similar to the kind you’d get if you burned yourself on a curling iron or stove burner. Scabs on the arms may take a week to fall off; scabs on the legs can take two weeks or longer.

Laser treatments can help fade brown spots. Certain lasers are designed to target the skin’s melanin pigment and break it up. In general, smaller, darker spots (especially those on the backs of the hands) respond better than lighter, larger ones because there is more pigment to interact with the laser. Each pulse of the laser feels like a hot pinprick, then the areas turn red for a few days; any crusting that forms falls off in about a week. You’ll get the best results if you’re not tan.

Chemical peels can help remove sun damage and spots caused by sun exposure. For individual spots, I dab the chemical peel solution onto each spot. They typically crust within a week and may take two weeks to peel off.

Don’t forget sunscreen. Even in the middle of winter, harmful UV rays can pass through your car windows and through the glass window of your home or office. If you do undergo any of these skin treatments, be sure to keep the treated areas covered up — freshly lasered or peeled skin can heal even darker than before if it’s exposed to the sun while it’s healing

    Exercise done the SKECHERS WAY

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE.  I just want to say that during this time of year many of us begin to think about our lives and what we did this year and what we would like to do in the coming New Year, Well I am no different than you.

For Christmas my husband got me the Skechers tennis shoes.  When you walk you can lose weight and strenghten back muscles, tone leg calfs, help to correct posture etc.  I got them and was happy to do so because like most of you I want to lose a few pounds in the coming year.  So with that said I began my journey to health with these shoes.

    Shape-Ups are designed to:

    •Promote weight loss

    •Strengthen the back

    •Firm calf and buttock muscles

•Reduce cellulite and tone your thighs

    •Increase cardiovascular health

    •Improve posture

The first day I wore them I must have worn them for tooooooo long because I started to complain to my daughter that my back was hurting and then she reminded me that you are suppose to break the shoes in and wear them a little at a time until you get use to walking the correct way.  Needless to say when I got home I took them off, but I will say that I do feel a difference in my back and stomach muscles, which is great because if you are anything like me I hate to exercise, and will not go to a Gym for all to see me!
This was my second day wearing them and I did not walk as much in them as the first day but I love them.
So if you are out there and thought about getting a pair and you are anything like me and hate the idea of a gym or any kind of scheduled exercise, try these shoes.  Of course they will never take the place of regular scheduled exercise but at least as you go about your regular day you can make a difference in your body.

Until next time then,  Stay DIVA-licious…….
